Fundraising for Scholarships & More

Background

When faced with rising operating costs and yearly AAUW National dues increases, the board decided not to raise branch dues. A fundraising committee was formed in 2004 instead, demonstrating our branch's commitment to increasing finances for accomplishing the work we foresee in the years ahead. We would also like to give more money for scholarships than we have been able to in recent years. What are your best ideas for a fundraiser: Food Flair, Artists' Studio Tour, an auction, or …?

Projects for 2011-2012

Midwinter Scholarship Member Solicitation Letters were mailed to members in January for response by March 31. This fund drive provides substantial support for our local Scholarship program. If you are a member and haven’t responded, please send in your donations as soon as possible. However, the Scholarship Committee will welcome donations anytime during 2011. In 2010, the Solicitation plus proceeds from other fundraisers provided $7,500 for three awards for local recipients, a college junior and matriculated grad student, plus an Educational Foundation Named Grant in the name of Ann McCarthy.

If you were at the Holiday Brunch in December 2011, you may have been one of the lucky winners of 20+ gift certificates donated to be part of a drawing.
